Overview
Advanced Air has successfully supplied a comprehensive smoke control solution for this prestigious project; delivering over 300 dampers, two System 42 main control panels, two System 42 repeater panels, and two bespoke fan control and power distribution panels.
The project began with early engagement between Advanced Air and the main contractor, allowing the team to fully understand the project’s requirements and identify opportunities to provide both standard and customised solutions. While the dampers, decoders and System 42 control panels fell within Advanced Air’s established product range, the fan control panels presented a more complex engineering challenge.
Solutions
The first panel incorporated ten power supplies for remote inverter control, along with two inverters installed directly within the cabinet. This configuration was required to enable one fan set to operate in reverse under a designated fire zone. The panel also included dedicated power supplies for the decoders and main control panels, together with a series of input/output boards responsible for controlling inverter operation, regulating zonal fan speeds, and providing real-time fan status indication via the panel interface.
The second panel was designed with sixteen power supplies and a similar control architecture. Although no inverters were housed within this cabinet, it provided power distribution for the decoders and main panels while utilising a network of input/output boards to manage zonal fan speed control and monitor fan status throughout the system.
Both bespoke panels were manufactured within robust 1,000mm x 1,000mm x 300mm single-door enclosures, providing a compact yet highly capable solution tailored to the project’s requirements.
This project demonstrates Advanced Air’s ability to combine proven standard products with bespoke engineering expertise, delivering fully integrated smoke control solutions that meet complex operational and safety requirements while supporting contractors throughout the project lifecycle.
